Brenda has studied diverse fields: commercial design for offices, photography, and
sacred geometry and architecture. In an early career, she worked as a “space planner” including helping to organize, design and oversee the move of the corporate headquarters for American Airlines from New York to Dallas. She also worked on I. M. Pei’s One Dallas Centre. Then deciding to take a creative leap, she returned to SMU and completed her MLA degree.
Then, totally out of left field, while on vacation in Colorado, she was introduced to some Chinese herbal foods and teas that would prove life-changing. These foods and teas served to heal her core health issues and allowed her to eliminate her prescription medications: Nexium for her acid reflux, Synthroid for thyroid, Boniva for bones, and bio-identical hormones, as well as medications for arthritis and bursitis. And…she said “good bye and good riddance” to 20 lbs., and those aches and pains…all in less than 7 months.
Seeing the possibilities and intelligence behind the Chinese herbal food formulations, she decided to pursue an understanding of Western approaches to healing with whole foods. She attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and is now certified as a Health Coach through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She recently attended a conference, “Food As Medicine,” presented by physicians in the “Functional Medicine” field.
She loves working with mothers, couples, and women who want to feel renewed energy and understand how foods “entrain us.” She also teaches classes and does food demonstrations.
